Everything is connected. And sometimes the connections are only made clear once the hindsight filter is applied.
KALEIDOSCOPE is 2,000+ hours of writing, recording, mixing, editing, and overthinking. Perfectionism almost stopped me from releasing it, but the universe reminded me that done is more important than perfect. This EP isn’t for the faint of heart. I’m choosing to look deep within myself and explore all my parts. The good, the bad, and the ugly. It is birthed from pain and grief. It is birthed from seeking an understanding of self that many haven’t yet allowed themselves to explore.
This EP is raw in content and production. It is my identities merged to create a sound that has yet to exist because it is uniquely mine. It draws inspiration from afrosoul artists like Cill, Broadway stars like Idina Mendzel, hip/hop artists Kendrick Lamar and Nipsey Hussle, gospel artists like Kirk Franklin and Mary Mary, Neo-soul artists like Jill Scott, Lauren Hill, and Jhene Aiko. This EP is the introspective thoughts of a woman mentally transitioning from childhood to adulthood, exploring her childhood traumas, sexuality, life choices, and ultimately landing in a space of self-love and a commitment to continued healing.
